This unit covers producing basic engineering drawings using a CAD system to produce a basic engineering drawing consisting of 1 to 3 orthogonally projected views, dimension and notations suitable to manufacture a component in the workplace.
Using the AutoCAD program, students will be led through the basic skills required to produce detail drawings of single view objects. Commands include drawing straight lines, circles, arcs, ellipses, rectangles and polygons, placing text and dimensions, and tools for editing and modifying the drawing.
Skill practice exercises consist of replicating given views.
A practice competency test is included at the end of the book to prepare the student.
