This unit covers applies the concepts of mathematics to appropriate and simple engineering situations within the individual’s area of engineering expertise. The unit applies to technician level work that requires basic algebraic, trigonometric and statistical knowledge and skill.
Topics covered in the resource include learning to understand formulae, using & applying formulae, indices & scientific notation, algebra, polynomials, Pythagorean Theorem, trigonometry, co-ordinates and statistics, and straight-line geometry.
Skill practice exercises consist of several report/essay style questions, but mainly calculations and graphs.
A practice competency test is included at the end of the book to prepare the student.
